Home Businesses For Under a $100: eBay

November 30, 2009 - 12:37 am

One of the most commonly known home businesses is Ebay. Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past 5 years or so, you should know about how Ebay works.

But just in case you don’t… Here is a quick break-down. You can use Ebay in 2 ways:

1. As a buyer – looking to find a good bargain on a certain product.
2. As a seller – looking to auction of your product(s) & sell it to the highest bidder.

As a home business seeker, you’ll be going for option #2. The Seller.

You can earn money by becoming an affiliate and promoting various eBay auctions. In fact, we recommend that you sign up as an affiliate or a partner instead of a merchant. Doing so can save you time and make you money.

So how will you promote these eBay auctions? First you need to sign up as an affiliate. EBay would then review your submission and if your website or blog meets their standards… YOU’RE IN.

You would then be provided with various banners, buttons, links as well as live auction feeds that you can place on your blog or website. Whenever someone clicks on any of those, they are immediately taken to eBay’s website.

Another way to make money through eBay is by selling some of your old “junk” and cleaning out your garage while you’re at it.

And it’s pretty simple to sell stuff on Ebay, but for best results, try the following 3 step system:

1. Research the Ebay marketplace to see if anyone else is selling a product similar to what you’re selling. (Look for good feedback when reviewing Sellers… good feedback usually means that the person knows what they’re doing and people are happy with their service.)

2. Post your auction with a reasonable starting bid. If you do correct research on other sellers, you should have a pretty good idea of what a reasoable bid would be for your particular product.

3. Write a good ad. This is the deal maker/breaker. Selling products on Ebay is no different than selling products through a regular website.

You will have competitors and if you want your product to sell over the other guy’s, you need to write a powerful ad to promote your product. And for that you need to know how to write powerful sales copy.

Study copywriting as if the life of your business depended on it… because it DOES.

One last thing about promoting products through Ebay. Costs.

Setting up an Ebay account is free. But each auction that you personally post will cost you $1.
It’s pretty cheap but realize that if that particular auction DOESN’T sell… then you’ve lost your dollar.

The affiliate program is completely free.

And that would be it for Ebay.

I’ll keep you posted on any updates as soon as I run into them.

And as always, if you have any questions or comments about this post, please post them below.

Stay cool,

Arman V.

How to Write Killer, Pass-It-To-Everyone-You-Know, Articles

November 3, 2009 - 8:26 pm

By now it shouldn’t be a secret that a powerful article can do miracles for a websites and its owner.

Just briefly, I want to state the 3 main benefits that it can provide for you if you choose to use articles as a part of your marketing strategy:

  • · It can position you as an expert in the eyes of your prospects without them actually having to buy any of your products.
  • · It can be used as a freebie to give away to your list (as long as it’s valuable)
  • · It can help your website with search engine rankings and provide long-term traffic for you.

Now, all of that being said… I get a LOT of questions from my list about how to actually write a powerful article, so that’s what I’d like to cover with you today.

There are 3 major rules when writing an article:

  • Add Value – This is the most IMPORTANT part of the whole article-writing process. If there is no value within your articles, your prospects will not want to read them, and if your prospects don’t want to read them, the following 2 steps will not make any difference.

  • Don’t use complex language – Maybe you’re and English Literature major, maybe not… but there is a very high likelihood that your prospect ISN’T.

Your articles will need to resonate not only with the IVY league prospect, but also the trucker who has never attended a college course in his life… and the language that you use in your articles needs to reflect that you understand this very important fact.

  • Have a call to ACTION – There is almost always a place at the bottom of your article that is designated for your Author Bio.

Now, you can write a short bio about your experience in your industry but that really won’t do you much good as far as traffic goes.

The “Author Bio” section should be used for your call to action statement. So here’s what it might look like:

If you found this article valuable, you will probably like my mini-course on how you can lower your golf score easily & without any extra skills.”

And the underlined section would be the phrase that you hyperlink to your site. (Highlight the phrase, right click on the mouse, choose ‘hyperlink’ and put in the URL of the page that you want the article to point to)

This will not only send extra traffic to your site directly from the article itself, but it will also help you with your search engine rankings.

If you write about 10-15 articles (orbetter yet…  if you have someone write it for you), you’ll be able to get a pretty nice ranking in the engines.

Now if you’re trying to rank for high competition keywords… then you’ll probably need more than 15 articles. Also, check out the post,” SEO on Steroids” to find out more about getting the most out of your articles.

Alright… thats about it for today.

Stay cool,

Arman V.

How To Increase Your Market Value 10 Fold.

November 2, 2009 - 12:42 pm

We’ve reached a point in the evolution of marketing where the strategy of… standing on top of a wooden box, holding a speakerphone in your hand yelling out “Step right up! Widget for sale!”… doesn’t really work anymore.

Consumers are a LOT savvier these days and they have access to a lot more tools for reviewing a product than they did before. A consumer will literally sit in front of the computer and visit several different websites to find some legitimate reviews about a product that they’re thinking about buying.

And if they don’t find a review that re-enforces their buying decision, they WON’T BUY. Their guards will go up and that will make things much harder for you and me, as marketers, to sell something to them.

So what is the answer? How do you get around your prospect’s guard without being hukster-ish or coming off as someone who is trying to scam them?

The answer is quite simple actually.

Give a LOT of value away for cheap or even FREE… and ONLY focus on getting them into your marketing pipeline. Once they’re in the pipeline, it’ll be much easier to show them that you’re trustworthy and that you don’t mean them any harm.

It is NOT possible to do this if they’re just looking at your website for the first time. All of the copywriting & marketing techniques in the world won’t help you against a skeptical consumer.

You’ve got to really get this idea to sink in. It took me a while to completely understand this concept.

If you want your prospect to buy from you… give them something of great value (we’re talking $50, $70, $100 worth)… for FREE.

That’s right… FREE.

Now if you’re just starting out in business and you haven’t made any money, I know what you’re thinking.

Why give it away for free when it’s worth so much and someone else would probably buy it for that amount?

Well think about it this way… if you give it away for free, the offer will become appealing to a LOT more people. And instead of asking the person to buy your offer, you can just say “I’ll give this to you for free if you give me your name and email address”.

That offer is a lot less threatening to your prospect than if you would have asked them to buy that particular product… ESPECIALLY if they’re seeing your website for the first time.

Think about this for a second. If you and I just met, and I asked you to buy something from me, without building any kind of trust or relationship first… what would be the likelihood that you’d actually take me up on my offer?

Slim to none.

But if we just met and I said, “Hey listen… I’ll give you this book that I just wrote and it’ll teach you everything you need to know about [whatever major benefit you’re offering]… and all I want in return is your first name and email address.”

What would you say then?

I could probably get your name WITHOUT even giving you anything for free… and if I chatted with you for a bit, you’d probably give me your email, too.

But since I’m actually giving you something for those two little pieces of info… you’ll much more likely to respond positively.

*********************

By the wayIf you’re serious about doing the whole ‘work from home’ thing, then my free Money Making Game Plan course will show you every step you need to take to build a list of HOT prospects for your home based business.

Its the most complete home study course if its kind and I think you’ll be blown away by the amount of rock-solid content that is in it.

*********************

Alright… back to what I was saying.

So that’s how you get your prospect’s foot in the door… but that’s only HALF of the battle.

Anyone can put up a lead capture page and offer something that sounds valuable for free… but if you’re actually giving them a piece of junk.. the next time they get an email from you, they’ll unsubscribe for SURE.

So what you give away needs to actually be valuable to your prospect. In fact, if you make it REALLY valuable, this the EXACT thought process that your prospect will go through when they receive your freebie…

“Wow! If this is what this guy is giving away for free… then I’ve GOT to see the stuff that he’s charging for.”

And they’ll actually be excited to see your promotions.

THAT is the kind of mindset that you want your prospect to be in.

What I like to do is give something of value away for free to get that person to opt-in to my list… but I won’t stop there.

I’ll keep giving away really valuable content within the first few emails that they receive from me.

I want to my prospect to not only trust me… but also genuinely believe that I KNOW what I’m talking about… that I’m an expert in my field.

It gets to the point that your prospect starts thinking like, “Ok… I got that… now what else do you want me to do?”

And that’s just marketing gold right there… not even gold… that’s marketing DIAMONDS right there.

Your prospect starts to actually LOVE you for being so good to them. Your value will increase 10x-100x in their eyes and they’ll not only buy your stuff… but they’ll tell everyone they know & their mothers about you and will be a great referral source for you, as well.

And there’s nothing better than a walking, talking, & breathing billboard.

Alright… that’s it for today.

Stay cool,

Arman V.
