Legitimate Home Based Business Ideas: eBay

Legitimate Home Based Business Ideas | eBay

One of the most commonly known home businesses is Ebay. Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past 5 years or so, you should know about how Ebay works.

But just in case you don’t… Here is a quick break-down. You can use Ebay in 2 ways:

1. As a buyer – looking to find a good bargain on a certain product.
2. As a seller – looking to auction of your product(s) & sell it to the highest bidder.

As a home business seeker, you’ll be going for option #2. The Seller.

You can earn money by becoming an affiliate and promoting various eBay auctions. In fact, we recommend that you sign up as an affiliate or a partner instead of a merchant. Doing so can save you time and make you money.

So how will you promote these eBay auctions? First you need to sign up as an affiliate. EBay would then review your submission and if your website or blog meets their standards… YOU’RE IN.

You would then be provided with various banners, buttons, links as well as live auction feeds that you can place on your blog or website. Whenever someone clicks on any of those, they are immediately taken to eBay’s website.

Another way to make money through eBay is by selling some of your old “junk” and cleaning out your garage while you’re at it.

And it’s pretty simple to sell stuff on Ebay, but for best results, try the following 3 step system:

1. Research the Ebay marketplace to see if anyone else is selling a product similar to what you’re selling. (Look for good feedback when reviewing Sellers… good feedback usually means that the person knows what they’re doing and people are happy with their service.)

2. Post your auction with a reasonable starting bid. If you do correct research on other sellers, you should have a pretty good idea of what a reasoable bid would be for your particular product.

3. Write a good ad. This is the deal maker/breaker. Selling products on Ebay is no different than selling products through a regular website.

You will have competitors and if you want your product to sell over the other guy’s, you need to write a powerful ad to promote your product. And for that you need to know how to write powerful sales copy.

Study copywriting as if the life of your business depended on it… because it DOES.

One last thing about promoting products through Ebay. Costs.

Setting up an Ebay account is free. But each auction that you personally post will cost you $1.
It’s pretty cheap but realize that if that particular auction DOESN’T sell… then you’ve lost your dollar.

The affiliate program is completely free.

And that would be it for Ebay.

I’ll keep you posted on any updates as soon as I run into them.

And as always, if you have any questions or comments about this post, please post them below.
