Legitimate Home Based Business Ideas: Information Marketing

Legitimate Home Based Business Ideas | Information Marketing

For as long as anyone can remember, human brings have always had an urge to take record of their learning experiences. And as a counterpart to this concept, they also have the urge to be constantly searching for information on HOW to do certain things.

Before the internet, people would have to go to libraries & book stores to get this information. But now, it has become extremely easy to get access to information using different resources such as search engines.

A person looking for information about how to potty-train their dog, would go online and search for it on Google.

And as a home business owner, you have the opportunity to learn about that subject (if you don’t know it already) and create an information product that can answer all of the questions that person has on the subject.

And in order to learn HOW to potty-train their dog, that person would have to purchase your course from you… whether it be an eBook, audio, or video course.

This is usually the part where someone would say, “Well… I really don’t know anything that I can make an Information Product out of.”

That really isn’t very likely. There usually is something that you are really good at, that you can teach someone else.

And if it’s not you, it could be someone you know that’s really good at something and you can use the information in their head to create a product, and then you can focus on the marketing.

A lot of times, people are willing to do a few interviews with you for free just for the extra publicity.

And in the worst case scenario, if you don’t know anything yourself and you don’t know anyone that is good at anything (highly unlikely)… there IS one last resort that is failsafe.

LEARN how to do something new and create an information product delivering the “meat” of the content that you just learned. It’s not at all a complicated process, and you can get through it in one weekend.

And the really cool thing is that it doesn’t cos ta single penny to create something like an eBook. Just open up MS Word or your favorite word document and type away. Then you can turn that file into a PDF file and sell it as a digital download.

So there is very LITTLE start up investment required, and you can make a VERY good living promoting your own information product. And if it’s in a good niche, you can create more backend products that will help you increase your customer lifetime value.

But my favorite thing about running an Information Product business is the fact that as a product owner, you now can have your own affiliate program. Once you have a sales funnel that converts prospects into buyers, an affiliate program will EXPLODE your profits. You will only need to pay something when a sale is made, and that’s a pretty powerful position to be in as a business owner.

By the way, if you don’t know how to set up an effective marketing system to promote your products for you… you can get access to a free comprehensive course we designed that will show you the A-B-C’s of building a profitable home based business.

You’ll learn everything from product creation, to website creation, to copywriting, to advertising and driving traffic. It’s the most complete course of its kind and you can get access to the free videos on this blog.

Go here to download your home business videos.

Alright… that’s it for today.

Stay cool,

Arman Vakili

Why Info Products Are Perfect For a Recession

March 2, 2009 - 12:13 am

The common thinking amongst many ‘entrepreneurs’ seems to be that a recession is a bad time to go into business.

The opposite is true, actually. A recession is the perfect time to go into business. Everything is discounted and your competition is most likely too discouraged from the recession to really do anything. So this means that it’s the perfect time for someone like you and me to go into business.

Now if you don’t have the $100,000’s to invest in a traditional business, don’t worry… there’s still a lot of hope for you. In fact, when I started out in business, I didn’t have any money to throw at my business either. My starting budget was somewhere around $50 per month and I was still able to build a very successful business from my home.

Now the biggest question that pops up in many people’s heads is, “If I don’t have to invest a lot of money up front, then what am I going to actually sell? Where do I get my product from?”

And the answer to that is very simple. You create an information product from scratch… for free.

First thing you’ve got to do is figure what market you want to go after. And to save you some time, here are the biggest niches that are ‘always hot’. If you want to create a product, find some kind of subcategory in the following niches and go after it in a way that you’ll seem unique in the eyes of your prospects:

  • The More Money Niche – Basically anything about how to make more money.
  • The Health/Fitness Niche – This is probably the biggest one out there. There are literally hundreds, maybe thousands, of new weight loss products coming out every day… and that’s because people who buy one weight loss book are going to buy another 15 by the end of the year.
  • The Sex/Relationships Niche – Pretty self explanatory, no?
  • Hobbies – I.E. Golf, Fishing, Bowling, Martial Arts, etc.

One thing you should know about market selection. It’s a GOOD idea to go after the niches that have a lot of competition in them. Why? Because that way you already know that people are spending money in that niche. Now all you have to do is make  yourself just a little bit better than the person at the bottom of the Top 10 list of competitors your market. Then you keep going until you’re just a little bit better than the guy in spot #1 and now you’ve taken over the marketplace. :)

As for the actual product creation…

You can do it in one of three different formats.

  1. PDF – You can type up an entire book inside of Microsoft Word and turn it into a PDF file using any free software online. Then you sell the actual PDF file as your product.
  2. Audio – For about $40, you can get a good voice recorder or microphone and you can record your information product. This would either be you going through an outline that you created, or you can interview someone or have someone interview you. Then you would sell the MP3 as your product.
  3. Video – For about $150, you can get a video camera and basically follow the same steps as if you were creating an audio product. You can also get Camtasia studio and create your videos that way… simply create a powerpoint presentation and record yourself going through it.

The way I create my products, I combine all of the above formats together. Since your prospects have different learning styles, you will be satisfying them all if you use all the different formats.

Now I know I said you wouldn’t need to invest much into this and now I’m mentioning something about coughing up $150 for a video camera… but think about it for a sec. $150 is nothing compared to what you would have to pay if you were going to sell any type of physical product.

For $150 investment, and some of your time, you can create a product that will literally pay for itself within a month MAX… and will potentially even give you a full time income from home. And that’s only if you’re going to create a video product and if you don’t already have a video camera.

You could just create a PDF product and it won’t cost you a DIME to make. And you can sell if for pure profits after that.

And once you’ve got your upfront product – also called a Self Liquidating Offer – you can now create more backend products. So if someone buys the first one for $47, then you offer them the second one for $67… and if they buy the second one, then you offer the third one for $197. So from ONE customer, you just made $311… and it probably cost you about $27 to get that customer.

And the beautiful thing about this whole deal is, using the Internet you can reach out to BILLIONS of people all around the world and market your product to them. It’s so EASY to make money from home (I’m talking about six and seven figures here) once you’ve got all the technicalities figured out.

And now you know how to create your very own product from literally nothing.

You can go here if you want to learn more information on how you can make more money from home and turn yourself into the next Recession Millionaire.
